Terms
Terms of use
Effective: 29 August 2026
These terms apply when you use AuthFactor and its optional synchronization service.
Your responsibilities
- Keep a tested encrypted backup or a second trusted device.
- Keep your account password and 24-word recovery phrase private.
- Use AuthFactor only with accounts and services that you are authorized to access.
- Do not attack, overload, reverse proxy, or misuse the synchronization service.
Recovery
AuthFactor cannot reconstruct a lost recovery phrase, vault key, backup passphrase, or authenticator secret. Loss of every recovery method can cause permanent loss of access to synchronized codes.
Availability
The application can generate codes without the synchronization service. Synchronization, email verification, Google sign-in, and push delivery depend on external services and network access. They can be delayed or unavailable.
Changes and termination
AuthFactor can change or discontinue the synchronization service. You can stop using synchronization and keep the codes already stored on your device. You can also delete the synchronized account from the application.
Warranty and liability
AuthFactor is provided without a guarantee that every service will accept a generated code or that every network operation will complete. Applicable law can give you rights that these terms cannot remove.
